Traction Motor
Converts DC from the pack (via the inverter) into torque. PMSM designs dominate for efficiency; induction motors trade magnets for cost.

Reduction Gearbox
EVs skip the multi-speed transmission: a single-speed reduction gear (~8–10:1) turns high motor RPM into wheel torque.

Inverter & Power Electronics
Switches pack DC into 3-phase AC for the motor, thousands of times a second. SiC MOSFETs are displacing IGBTs at higher voltages.

On-Board Charger & Port
The OBC rectifies AC wall power into DC for the pack; the port and its comms (CCS2 / Bharat AC-001) decide what the car can plug into.

Thermal Management
Radiators, chillers, cold plates and coolant loops keep the pack in its happy 20–40 °C window and stop the motor and inverter from derating.

EV weight (the pack adds 300–600 kg) reshapes spring rates, damper tuning and knuckle design; steering is electric-assist by default.

Braking System
Friction brakes share the job with regen, so discs corrode more than they wear. Blending — handing off between regen and hydraulics — is the hard part.
