Automotive Cells Company (ACC) is a European EV battery venture created by Stellantis, TotalEnergies/Saft, and Mercedes-Benz to drive Europe’s battery sovereignty. Founded in 2020, ACC is building cutting-edge gigafactories in France, Germany, and Italy to supply next-generation lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. ACC leverages Saft’s deep battery expertise and the automotive know-how of its shareholders to develop high-performance NMC cells with a focus on cost, energy density, and sustainability. Headquartered in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, ACC is rapidly scaling – its first plant in France (Douvrin) commenced production, with others to follow, targeting a combined capacity of 120 GWh by 2030. ACC emphasizes using renewable energy and recycled materials to minimize environmental impact. By uniting industry leaders, ACC aims to deliver reliable, world-class batteries to European automakers, accelerating the transition to cleaner mobility.
